"The Scottish landscape is the inspiration for nearly all of my paintings, from the mountains of Glencoe to the coastal villages of Fife. It has an enchanting quality by which I have been completely captivated."

"Each painting begins with a specific photograph or memory, but evolves during the creative process to become something unique. I use collage and layer upon layer of glaze and paint until a conclusion is reached. Colour and texture are as important to me as the subject itself and my aim is for the subject and materials to reach a state of perfect harmony."

"In my paintings I hope to strike a chord with the viewer, which may bring back a happy memory, set off a train of thought, or just suspend time - if only for a brief moment. Rather than reflect reality, my aim is to capture the essence of nature and man's relationship with it."
